GeQD featured on Elektroniknet.de: Quantum detectors also for medical technology
GeQD is featured on Elektroniknet.de : The article " Stuttgart spin-off : Quantum detectors also for medical technology " introduces our germanium-on-silicon photodetector, which according to the report already operates at -10 to -20 °C – significantly less cooled than classical single-photon detectors that operate near absolute zero. Room-temperature operation remains our development target.

The article highlights the four-person founding team (Maurice Wanitzek, Jakob Finkbeiner, Claudia Bett, Dr. Maximilian Scheu), funding from the EXIST research transfer programme (around €1.2 million over two years) and the first application fields: quantum cryptography, autonomous driving and, in the medium term, medical technology.
Particular attention is paid to the compact form factor and compatibility with standard semiconductor manufacturing – key prerequisites for bringing quantum detectors from the lab into industrial systems.
